This review by the Yu group provides an excellent introduction to the field of Pd-catalyzed C–H Activation/C–C bond forming reactions. It highlights the four main modes of Pd-catalyzed formation of C–C bonds from C–H bonds.

A detailed discussion is then presented on the Pd(II)/Pd(0)-catalyzed reaction of C–H bonds, providing a perspective on the potential of this emerging methodology and impact it could have on the rapid construction of a broad range of molecules.

This review highlights many of the powerful transformation that C–H Functionalization can offer. Furthermore a detailed discussion of the future directions and developments required in this field for it to reach its full potential is explored.
