This work by the Yu Group reveals an efficient and direct method to introduce alkyne functionality into molecules using C–H Functionalization. Alkynes are highly valuable motifs, both as targets and versatile intermediates.

Furthermore, the palladium ligand key to this transformation was made available from Sigma-Aldrich on the same date that this paper was published, highlighting the close collaborations being formed between Center members and chemical suppliers in order to popularize these powerful transformations.
