Dr. Wackett is a Distinguished McKnight University Professor in the Department of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, and Biophysics at the University of Minnesota. He is co-director of the Biocatalysis/Biodegradation Database, and he co-founded the startup company Minnepura Technologies, Inc., which was recognized among the "Best University Startups 2016."

In this presentation Prof. Wackett gave an overview of how he took research from an academic lab into a startup, discussing conpects around when to publish and when to patent, and discussing some of the difficulties in getting the company going.
